Miss Rowsell

Mrs Morgan

Our PE sessions will be swimming on a Thursday morning this term.
Please make sure pupils have their swimming kit with them on this day.

Our reading day is a Thursday this year. Reading books should be brought to school every day and taken home every evening. The children will often find five minutes during settling time in the morning where they can read their own book.

Our topic this term is 'Frozen Kingdom'. We will be learning about the polar regions as well as the animals and habitats that can be found in these areas..

Thank you for your continued support,

Miss Rowsell

Internet Safety 2018
Thank you so much to our parents for coming in to see us using ICT for our work. We loved showing you the different apps and websites that we use in our everyday lessons.

Frozen Kingdom Immersion Day

We had an eventful first day back at school this term. We were placed into groups with year 6 pupils named after different Arctic animals. In these groups, we completes lots of different activities and asked questions we would like to find out about during our new topic.

We built dens out of a range of materials and tried to make them warmer using cushions and blankets from the classroom.
Some of us tested them to see how weather proof they were.
We thought of lots of questions we would ask someone who builds shelters in the polar regions.

We used paper, sticks, tape and glue to construct a boat that would cross the paddling pool. The pool was filled with icebergs that were obstacles in our way.

We designed habitats for a range of animals and thought about the type of land they lived on.

This gave us lots to think about especially for those animals living in very cold places. We have lots of questions about how they manage to eat.

We used paints to create an image of an Arctic animal.
We would like to use more materials to create images like these this term!

At the research station, we used books and iPads to explore different types of ice and icebergs.

We are really looking forward to finding out more about animals that live in icy climates, and the iceberg that the titanic crashed into.

Anti-bullying Week 2017
Thank you to all of the parents who came in to see what we had been working on throughout Anti-bullying week. We spent lots of time in circles talking about the importance of friendship and the impact of bullying.

This is a polite reminder that the children should be changing their reading books on a regular basis. We ask that all children bring them in on a Friday for changing.
